Sync with MailChimp lists.

 

One final way of using the News module is to sync your lists with a list in MailChimp and then use MailChimp’s very powerful editing and tracking features to send out your news.


Use this option when you need to send out really fancy looking emails, or when you really need MailChimp’s great analytics tools.

 

To sync your subscriber lists with a list in MailChimp:

 

  • Make sure you have connected your MailChimp account with GoDoChurch.

  • Open the News module.

  • Look for the channel you want to sync and click More >> Edit channel settings.

  • From the dropdown list select the MailChimp list you want to sync.

  • Click Save. This will take you back to the main channel list view.

  • Again, from the main view, click More >> Sync with MailChimp.

  • When the sync has completed the MailChimp Status will change to ‘Synced’.


The syncing between MailChimp and GoDoChurch works both ways. If someone unsubscribes from a channel via the app or admin system, syncing will unsubscribe them in your MailChimp list. And if someone unsubscribes from your MailChimp list, syncing will unsubscribe them from your GoDoChurch list. If you add a person manually to a channel in GoDoChurch syncing will add them to MailChimp.


There is only one catch: if you MANUALLY add someone to a MailChimp list, syncing will not add them to your list in GoDoChurch. 


In summary, syncing will keep everything up-to-date so long as you avoid adding people manually to your MailChimp list.
